BEFORE THE FIRST DRIVE

A cleaner install starts with a plan.

Choose the camera locations, trace the cable route and decide whether you want recording while parked before ordering accessories.

01

Check your view.

Find a front-camera position that preserves your view of the road and keeps the lens in a useful wiped area. Check the cabin angle and rear view before fixing adhesive mounts. Follow the vehicle and camera manuals for safe, permitted placement.

02

Trace the rear cable.

Both checked Amazon listings describe a 20-foot rear cable. Measure the real route through your car, including hatch movement and bends. Keep wiring clear of airbags, pedals and moving parts. An exterior rear camera needs a suitable weather-protected route and connections.

03

Decide how to power parking mode.

Driving power and parked recording are different requirements. The listings require a hardwire kit for continuous parking-mode use. Confirm a compatible kit, voltage protection, fuse arrangement and vehicle electrical requirements with the manufacturer or a qualified installer.

Do not assume a standard car charger will keep recording safely after the vehicle is switched off. The camera does not promise indefinite recording without a suitable power source.

04

Prepare the memory card.

Check the selected package for an included microSD card and follow Vantrue’s current card recommendations. The model supports cards up to 1TB, but capacity alone does not establish compatibility. Format and configure the card as instructed.

05

Make a short test recording.

Before finishing the cable trim, review front, cabin and rear clips. Check the date and time, image orientation, audio preference and how to save an important event. Recheck footage in daylight and after dark.

Use the supplied power hardware or a manufacturer-approved alternative. The Amazon IP67 listing warns against assuming generic USB-C PD fast chargers and cables are compatible.

What else might you need?

A suitable memory card, a compatible hardwire kit for parking mode, and possibly installation help. CPL filters and other accessories depend on the selected bundle and your needs. Confirm the current box contents rather than assuming every photograph shows what is included.

Sources & how this guide was prepared

Researched October 16, 2026 using manufacturer specifications and the two Amazon listings. This is a research guide; we have not conducted a hands-on test. Packages can change. The manufacturer’s current IP67 rear camera description and Amazon’s RC09 listing do not give identical sensor details, so we do not treat every package as the same hardware.
