What to verify

  • Manufacturer coolant specification and inhibitor chemistry
  • Whether the existing coolant is known, compatible, and safe to mix
  • Premixed 50/50 versus concentrate and the correct service procedure

Installation guidance

Work only on a fully cooled system, follow the vehicle’s pressure-release and bleeding procedure, never open a hot cooling system, and dispose of drained coolant safely because ethylene glycol is toxic to people and animals.

What coolant chemistry is mapped to the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox?

DEX-COOL OAT · GM 1995-and-newer family. Orange organic acid technology (OAT) DEX-COOL, 50/50 prediluted. DEX-COOL OAT formula for saved 1995-and-newer General Motors vehicle families. Confirm the manufacturer specification and existing coolant chemistry; color alone is not a compatibility check.

Can I choose coolant by its color?

No. Different chemistries can share a color, and similar-looking fluids may be incompatible. Match the manufacturer specification and product chemistry.

Can I mix this coolant with what is already in the vehicle?

Only when the product and vehicle service information explicitly permit it and the existing chemistry is known. If it is unknown, use the manufacturer’s drain-and-fill procedure rather than guessing.
